Ballmoos, Ernest G.
MADISON - Ernest G. Ballmoos, age 74, of Madison, passed away after a brief illness on Monday, March 21, 2005, at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center. He was born on Oct. 11, 1930, in the New Glarus area, the son of Godfred and Lena (Gerber) Ballmoos. He was united in marriage to Betty Hammen on Nov. 5, 1956. Ernie enjoyed working at Vogel Brothers and sharing good times with his friends and co-workers until his retirement. He was a proud member of the Laborers Local Union No. 464. He was an enthusiastic Green Bay Packers fan and loved playing cards, especially euchre with friends at the Grieg Club. Ernie is survived by his four children, Gary (Jean) Hammen, Dixie (Jim) Olson, Sandi (Glenn, deceased) Jones and Terry (Charlene) Hammen; nine grandchildren, Christopher Hammen, Alicia Elliott, Jimmy and Ryan Olson, Heather Waugh, Stefanie Jones and Terry, Betty Jo and Sarah Hammen; eight great-grandchildren, Alexa, Brandon, Sawyer, Patrick, Clarke, Maritza, Chase and Ethan; and nieces and nephew, Ron (Dorothy) Schmitz, Roxanne Schmitz and Sheila (Bruce) Budd. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; great- granddaughter, Christiana; sister, Frieda Schmitz; and brothers, Rudy and Carl Ballmoos. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2005. Burial will follow at Verona Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center. Family was very important to Ernie, yet he truly valued his friendships with Pat, Kathy, Patricia and his special neighborhood friends.
